If Persian Melon was the official shade of Pan-Am hostesses, what was going on the mouth of 1966 Pan-American Airlines Stewardess Barbie? I’m not really sure what the original face looked like, I’ve never seen one in person and a lot of the “originals” floating around are the Pan-Am ensemble on other dolls’ bodies. This one seems as plausible as any, and that red lip is close to what the Stewardess Reproduction doll is wearing. If we’re still speaking Moon Drops—and we should be, because that was the moisturizing lipstick line of the early sixties, and, you know, altitude—I’m unsure. But that looks to me like Certainly Red, a Revlon shade that’s been around since the early fifties.
