Warco: an FPS where you hold a camera instead of a gun
Who would have guessed that someday the first person shooter would spawn the “first person journalist?” Using the elements of an FPS game, Defiant Development’s “Warco” puts players in the position of a broadcast journalist covering a war. Players are armed with a video camera rather than a gun, and their task is to capture footage to create a compelling news report.
By replacing a gun with a camera, it seems this game places more emphasis on life than death (unlike most first person shooters). Perhaps this will give players a more realistic and sobering rendition of war, portraying tragedy and loss.
It’s too bad publishers have to speak anonymously to praise a game that doesn’t make it’s money by glorifying violence.
