ted:
Every week, cartoonist / math nerd / former NASA roboticist Randall Munroe tries to answer the weird questions that keep people up night.
How? Math, science and comics, obviously.
The guy behind the webcomic xkcd, Munroe has tackled a lot of weird questions — involving dinosaurs, soda, and expanding clouds of plasma. But one question really sent him hunting: If all digital data were stored on punchcards, how big would Google’s data warehouse be?
In his TED Talk, he explains the saga (in comics!) that led Google to send him a cryptic, math-encoded message … on punch cards.
