Face Capture

Smartphone computational photography app Seene is working on a feature to scan your face in 3D without the need of additional sensors. These scans can then be used for 3D avatars or 3D printing, and should be out in a few months time:

Seene
has created a pipeline for high-resolution 3D face scanning on standard
mobile devices. All processing is performed on the device without
specialized hardware, so anyone can scan their face and see the result
in seconds. The raw scan data is then fitted to a canonical base mesh
and uploaded to our cloud platform, ready to be applied into virtual
experiences and products.

The system is patent-pending and will be
launching in Q3 2015 in conjuction with partners in gaming, e-commerce,
3D printing and VR.
