The Last Guardian

Thanks to a friends wall post, I caught wind of this games release. Once released, I fear I will have to rent a PS3 system in order to try out this game. I was introduced to Ico many years ago by another friend and from beginning to end I sat in awe of the game. I got that same feeling as I watched the game trailer and as my friend Jolie said…this game may require some tissues.

Although….game director, Fumito Ueda, stated that rather than a sad ending it would be more open ended. What that means…I guess I’ll have to wait for the game to find out. Whatever the case, I’m already enthralled by the relationship between the boy and the Trico (the doggy/bird/cat critter).

So, if you’re a fan of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, gear up for a third installment. While these games take awhile to get out…they always seem to hit their mark. Many times, I’ve wished more games were done in the same visually stunning and touching way.

For a bit more information on this game, check out this article entitled “The Last Guardian and Team Ico Collection TGS 2010 Impressions” by Shaun Mcinnis.

For current PS3 owners, Ueda mentioned they were releasing the ICO and Shadow of the Colossus set. Release is scheduled for April 1, 2011 (hope this is no April Fool’s prank) and can be pre-ordered online at amazon.com for $39.99.
