The U.S. Navy is christening a ship today, on Cinco de Mayo, in honor of the late civil rights leader Cesar Chavez. The 700-foot USNS Cesar Chavez will be primarily used to transport food, ammunition and fuel to other combat ships who are at sea. It is the first time a U.S. Navy ship is named after a Mexican-American.
