July 23rd, 1985 – Presenting to an excited audience at the Lincoln Center in New York City, a team of engineers from the Commodore corporation show off their latest 8-bit computing product, the Amiga. Software demos include showing off Amiga’s music making capabilities, animation programs, business applications, and much more. Even pop artist Andy Warhol is on hand to give a live demonstration of the graphics capabilities of the machine, sketching a picture of Debbie Harry from Blondie in the Amiga paint program.

Many would go on to call the Amiga a computer that was way ahead of its time. Though the Amiga was a great machine and popular among consumers, Commodore could not insulate itself against competition from IBM and Apple computer. Coupled with financial difficulties and numerous lawsuits over the Commodore brand and technology, not to mention a poor customer service record from Amiga owners, Commodore International went into bankruptcy during the early 1990s.
