The Internet is Dead. Hope You Got the Memo. Everybody’s Starting Magazines Now. This is Ours.

Don’t worry too much. Magazines are a lot like blogs. They’re full of words and pictures. You have to pay for them (which feels bad) but they’re made of paper (which feels good).

Our first issue features writing from Geoff Dyer, Jonathan Meades, Sam Lipsyte, Jacob Blandy. Also included, Coolio, GZA, Margot Henderson, Jacob Holdt, Thomas Bayrle and millions more. It’s the “real deal”.

I had two graduating students (preumably 22-year-olds) ask me which magazines they should subscribe to yesterday, and then gleefully cart away thirty years worth of Communication Arts and Graphis magazines. They plan on doing a deep dive through the material. They are also part of a musical culture that is finding value in the acoustic individuality of the cassette tape.
