I just discovered how to use Xcode 4’s Storyboard editor to design user interface. I am in love with Xcode. It is THE most pleasant integrated development environment (IDE) I’ve ever used and I’m starting to get a hang of Objective-C and how the MVC system works.

You do the usual Interface Builder stuff but on top of that Storyboarding allows you to visually spread your views out and create segues from buttons to views in a very easy manner.

My opinion: Apple Xcode > Microsoft Visual Studio > Adobe Flash Professional.

In the past year I’ve really come around on Apple’s products. It started when I got an iPod Touch and realized just how smooth and consistent the user experience is on iOS. The main issue with Android is the inconsistency of the interface and the experience.

Too often do I find myself typing a text message and see the screen pause while I’m still typing away and then it catches up with me. Too often I hit the Back button and never know whether I’ll be sent to the app’s previous screen or to the Home screen.

But I doubt I’ll be singing praises of Apple when the times comes for me to submit my game to the App Store for the first time. I’ve read some interesting horror stories from indie devs dealing with Apple’s strict enforcers.

Agreed.
