He has created the fictional company <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mbafabrications.com\/\">Mba Fabrications Inc<\/a>.,<br \/>\n which declares itself in the process of building something called the<br \/>\nDeep Earth Asset Depository. That\u2019s a (fictional) high-tech storage<br \/>\nfacility buried 1,161 meters down in an abandoned nickel mine in<br \/>\nOntario. Art collectors are supposed to rent space in this ultra-secure,<br \/>\n environmentally-stable facility so that their art can live there<br \/>\nforever, perfectly guarded from all possible change or damage. Should<br \/>\nthey be fussy enough to actually want to enjoy the presence of<br \/>\ntheir aesthetic treasures in their own homes (or private museums), McCaw<br \/>\n offers perfect facsimiles of the holdings they\u2019ve sent down his mine.<br \/>\nYou need to watch <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=cXXns9qTw3s&amp;feature=youtu.be\">video of him pitching the Depository<\/a> to get the full effect of his soft-sell. (McCaw is launching <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/iNVxsDWqnn0\">another Mba Inc. \u201cproduct\u201d<\/a> at <a href=\"http:\/\/heronarts.com\/exhibition\/artpak-launch\">Heron Arts in San Francisco<\/a> on March 11.)<\/p>\n<p>Perfect trompe-l\u2019oeil has always delivered guaranteed<br \/>\npleasure. McCaw has created a trompe-l\u2019oeil vision of our current<br \/>\nintersection of science, business, finance and art \u2013 and shown that<br \/>\nesthetics are barely part of the equation.
