In well-deserved recognition of her digital rights and privacy work around the globe, EFF International Rights Director Katitza Rodr\u00edguez<\/a> was named by CNET<\/a> as one of the most influential Latinos in technology<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re delighted to see Katitza<\/a>
\n celebrated for her many years of advocacy on behalf of technology users
\n in Latin America and internationally. While the technology industry has
\n much work to do to increase diversity and inclusion among its ranks,
\nCNET\u2019s annual list of top Latino tech leaders underlines the importance
\nof having female leaders and leaders of different nationalities and
\nbackgrounds in the field.<\/p>\n

Katitza <\/a>has advocated tirelessly in Latin America and elsewhere for users\u2019 rights<\/a>, greater accountability at tech and telecommunications companies, and an end to government surveillance<\/a>. She launched a regional project, \u201cWho Defends Your Data,\u201d based on EFF\u2019s \u201cWho Has Your Back<\/a>\u201d list, and has worked with local partners to bring the report to Paraguay<\/a>, Colombia<\/a>, Chile<\/a>, Peru,<\/a> Brazil<\/a>, Argentina<\/a>, Spain, and Mexico. A frequent speaker<\/a>
\n at international tech and human rights global conferences, Katitza has
\nspoken out for freedom of expression, online privacy, and protections
\nfor dissidents and journalists in the digital world in front of judges,
\npolicymakers, government officials, diplomats, law enforcement agents,
\nand prosecutors from Europe to Latin America and Asia.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a
\n breach between where tech is going and where law and policy are right
\nnow,\u201c said Katitza. \u201cTech is always ahead, raising new questions in the
\nUnited States, Latin America, and throughout the world. Our vision is to
\n work with local partners to develop innovative projects to encourage
\nbest practices that will protect people\u2019s privacy and allow free
\nexpression to flourish.<\/p>\n
