The Digital Scholarship Lab will provide the<br \/>\nfacilities for scholars across the disciplines to engage with research data<br \/>\nusing advanced visualization software, to examine and compare<br \/>\nhigh-resolution digital content, and to experience audiovisual media in a<br \/>\nsetting unique on Brown\u2019s campus. The Lab will complement other<br \/>\nvisualization resources on campus, including the Center for Computing and<br \/>\nVisualization\u2019s CAVE and the Granoff Center for the Creative Arts.<\/p>\n<p>The Data Visualization Coordinator oversees the operation of the Digital<br \/>\nScholarship Lab (DSL) and identifies, installs, and supports software to<br \/>\nfacilitate information visualization across multiple disciplines within the<br \/>\ncontext of the DSL. The position is responsible for providing instruction<br \/>\nand outreach to faculty, students, and interdisciplinary campus groups in<br \/>\ntheir use of the DSL, and will support individual and course-based<br \/>\nvisualization projects. S\/He provides leadership in developing<br \/>\nvisualization services in concert with complementary services on campus and<br \/>\nresponds to student and faculty teaching and learning needs as well as<br \/>\nresearch computing strategies as they make use of the DSL. The position<br \/>\nreports to the Director of Library Digital Technologies and is a member of<br \/>\nthe Center for Digital Scholarship within the Brown University Library.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0&#8211; Ensures that the DSL space and equipment are fully functional and<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0accessible to campus users<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0&#8211; Advises, supports, and trains students and faculty from all academic<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0disciplines in the visualization of data<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0&#8211; Leads workshops and training sessions on information visualization<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0tools and techniques, in the context of the DSL<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0&#8211; Identifies, installs, and supports relevant software packages<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0&#8211; Advises on specifications for DSL equipment and rendering hardware<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0&#8211; Maintains a current awareness of emerging trends in data visualization<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0&#8211; Creates guides and interfaces to enhance the usability of data within<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0the DSL<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0&#8211; Supports the development of research proposals for external funding<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0for visualization activities<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0&#8211; Collaborates on projects in the Center for Digital Scholarship and<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0other library units as needed<\/p>\n<p>Qualifications:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0&#8211; Master\u2019s degree in a field related to information visualization or<br \/>\n\u00a0\u00a0equivalent combination of education and experience.
