It was a technology that dates all the way back to 1862 called Pepper\u2019s Ghost,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/video\/how-tupac-was-brought-back-to-life\/6E6D98C7-78C7-4642-95B6-E6E7F6F4667D.html\">said\u00a0<em>The Wall Street Journal<\/em>\u2019s Ethan Smith on The News Hub<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s not a hologram. It\u2019s very, very simple technology, from the Victorians actually,\u201d Jim Steinmeyer,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/jimsteinmeyer.com\/\">illusion designer<\/a>\u00a0and author of the book\u00a0<em>Hiding the Elephant<\/em>, confirmed to The Atlantic Wire. Considering the (creepy!) life-likeness of the hologram, which one Coachella attendee told us she looked more like an impersonator than an optical\u00a0illusion, it\u2019s pretty impressive that it boils down to a 19th-century theatrical effect.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All it takes to make your very own Tupac \u201chologram\u201d is a Pac replica and a plate of glass and light, Steinmeyer explained. It\u2019s the same stuff used \u2014 minus 2Pac \u2014 for the very first Pepper\u2019s Ghost demonstration back in 1862 at the Polytechnic Institute in London.
