Consumers pay nothing.<\/p>\n<p>But of course, nothing is free. Instead, consumers pay with their data, that\u2019s sold to marketers, or with screenspace, which is forked over to make room for ads. It\u2019s a trade consumers are happy to make.<\/p>\n<p>But are they?<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/papers.ssrn.com\/sol3\/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2341311\">new study from economists at the University of Colorado<\/a> finds otherwise.
