{"id":32154,"date":"2015-02-03T21:24:47","date_gmt":"2015-02-03T21:24:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rafaelfajardo.com\/portfolio\/internetarchive-last-september-the-john-s-and\/"},"modified":"2018-12-06T12:44:03","modified_gmt":"2018-12-06T19:44:03","slug":"internetarchive-last-september-the-john-s-and","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rafaelfajardo.com\/portfolio\/internetarchive-last-september-the-john-s-and\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/internetarchive.tumblr.com\/post\/110004815000\/last-september-the-john-s-and-james-l-knight\" class=\"tumblr_blog\">internetarchive<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Last September, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knightfoundation.org\/\">John S. and James L Knight Foundation<\/a> issued <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knightfoundation.org\/blogs\/knightblog\/2014\/9\/10\/bracken-knight-news-challenge-libraries-offers-25-million-innovative-ideas\/\">this challenge<\/a>:  \u201cHow might we leverage libraries as a platform to build more knowledgeable communities?\u201d Today we are proud to announce that the Internet Archive\u2019s plan for \u201cBuilding Libraries Together\u201d will make <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.org\/\">archive.org<\/a> more community-driven, with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knightfoundation.org\/blogs\/knightblog\/2015\/1\/30\/22-projects-win-knight-news-challenge-libraries\/\">major grant from the<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.knightfoundation.org\/\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.knightfoundation.org\/blogs\/knightblog\/2015\/1\/30\/22-projects-win-knight-news-challenge-libraries\/\">Knight Fo<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.knightfoundation.org\/blogs\/knightblog\/2015\/1\/30\/22-projects-win-knight-news-challenge-libraries\/\">undation<\/a>.  The Knight Foundation is the leading funder of journalism and media innovation, seeking to promote informed and engaged communities.<\/p>\n<p>At the Internet Archive, we know we can\u2019t preserve the world\u2019s knowledge alone.  We will need the public\u2019s help to curate our shared human culture.  So we are embarking on a two-year project to build a toolset and user interface that allow communities outside the Archive to save, manage and share their cultural treasures\u2014 further democratizing access to all knowledge.
