As a curator who has a pretty significant investment in the videogame medium, I\u2019d been looking forward to this show, and it\u2019s actually one of the reasons I decided to make the trip out to NYC.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cory Arcangel\u2019s best-known piece is probably <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.coryarcangel.com\/things-i-made\/supermarioclouds\/\">Super Mario Clouds<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>(2002). I\u2019m of the opinion that SMC often gets oversimplified by writers and curators, and I was hoping that <em>Pro Tools<\/em>\u00a0at the Whitney would do more to contextualize Arcangel\u2019s\u00a0oeuvre. But instead, the show was mostly comprised of pieces from the last two years, which communicated more of a snarkiness than the insight I\u2019d been looking for.
