And because it is <em>30 Rock<\/em> it made me laugh. But it also made me think of all the times I\u2019ve heard that Lois Lane is just a supporting character to Superman. That she\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/geekdad\/2012\/03\/superman-and-lois\/all\/1\">not an important part of the mythos<\/a>. That she really can\u2019t stand alone as a character.<\/p>\n<p>And yet here is this TV show, a pretty smart TV show which probably starts off the week with a script that goes through edit after edit to get the best jokes, the best lines, the best ways of getting 3.4 Million television viewers to think, \u201cLove it. Can\u2019t miss it\u201d and they devoted a line to Lois Lane. And the line? No reference to Superman. No damsel in distress snerkiness. No \u201cshe\u2019s so stupid she can\u2019t figure out who he is even though his disguise is glasses. No Kryponite jokes. No \u201cLois tricks Superman into marrying her\u201d. No phone booth jokes.<\/p>\n<p>Nope.<\/p>\n<p>Just a reference to Lois and her career.<\/p>\n<p>If only others could see how she\u2019s such a great character with the potential for great stories and not just as the driver of a Superman\u2019s \u201cemotional journey\u201d. She\u2019s one of the world\u2019s best reporters.
