I will look for Snowpiercer.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"tumblr_blog\" href=\"http:\/\/ladymargo.tumblr.com\/post\/81566669297\/dear-tumblr-i-just-got-around-to-seeing-this\">ladymargo<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Dear Tumblr,<\/p>\n<p>I just got around to seeing this movie, despite the fact that it did not get a wide-release.<\/p>\n<p>Find it and watch it.<\/p>\n<p>Believe me when I say, this film is in the same league of sci-fi\/speculative film classics as <em><strong>Bladerunner<\/strong><\/em> and <strong><em>Children of Men<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This.<\/p>\n<p>Movie.<\/p>\n<p>Should have a HUGE fandom.<\/p>\n<p>It deals with issues like class, caste-systems, oppression, and the nature of humanity in a way mainstream films like <strong><em>The Hunger Games<\/em><\/strong> never could.<\/p>\n<p>Let me tell you a story about the film-maker Joon-Ho Bong. Some years back, I had the privilege of attending a screening of one his films and the man happened to be there. At that time, he\u2019d already gotten some notice for making <strong><em>The Host,<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0another awesome film that allegorizes heavy issues in humanity.<\/p>\n<p>So, he does the q&amp;a at the end and someone asks him why he\u2019s never produced a Hollywood movie.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026And he says, paraphrasing; that Hollywood would never let him make the kind of movies he\u2019d like. \u00a0He\u2019d have to hire an all-white cast and the actors would have to fit a certain aesthetic. They couldn\u2019t be non-white, older than twenty-five, or non-thin\u2026especially actresses.<\/p>\n<p>He said, it\u2019s not worth selling out, when he can make the kinds of movies he wants in South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026And then he makes this.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d love to spoil it for you, but suffice it say it was, as all good speculative sci-fi is, very effecting for me.<\/p>\n<p>Again, I beg you PLEASE SEE THIS MOVIE.<\/p>\n<p>And if you need more convincing??<\/p>\n<p>Your faves are in it: \u00a0Octavia Spencer aka the above flawless actress in the poster, Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Ed Harris and the father\/daughter pair from <strong><em>The Host<\/em><\/strong>, Kang-So Hung and Ah-Sung Ko (which had me thinking AU!).<\/p>\n<p>Now, I shall commence spamming my tumblr with <strong><em>Snowpiercer<\/em> <\/strong>reblogs\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Apologies ahead of time.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Interesting.
