Its pedagogical practices have been transformed by digital technology, but its scholarship remains wedded to the printed age. \u2026 Art history is invested in the monographic book as the prime vehicle for transmission of knowledge and academic advancement, and this bias is reinforced by tenure and promotion standards that privilege books over other types of publications.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class='attribution'>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Hilary Ballon and\u00a0Mariet Westermann. \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/cnx.org\/content\/col10376\/1.1\/\">Art History and Its Publications in the Electronic Age<\/a>.\u201d Rice University Press (2006).\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>There are only a couple open access, online art history journals, but they are limited in scope. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/arthistory.us\">ArtHistory.us<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>aims to add to their numbers. \u00a0Our field\u00a0<em>can<\/em> move past print publication bias, and slowly but surely, it will.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Be a force of change\u00a0<\/strong>by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/arthistory.us\/submissions.php\">submitting<\/a> an article to ArtHistory.us.
