I\u2019ve been trying to think of something to say about police shooting \u00a017 year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson MO since about 9 PM. The AP headline is:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/2014\/08\/09\/4281286\/missouri-crowd-after-shooting.html\">Missouri crowd after shooting: \u2018Kill the police\u2019<\/a>\u00a0but what stood out to me was how quickly the police presented a massive response involving officers from over 16 police department with military-style armored\u00a0vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m glad for Twitter, to see and hear from those present. But in my Twitter stream, since Israel\u2019s Gaza\u00a0assault, there\u2019s a steady trickle of unhinged ethnic hatred. And there\u2019s always propaganda. It\u2019s too much.<\/p>\n<p> I fried my brain this past week on Web sites trying to learn more about how the subject of immigration gets shaped. I clicked on some of those\u00a0ridiculous links on the side columns of Web sites. Dang! The racism. Oh yeah, I know, I know, but Damn it to hell.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Twitter I heard from @AntonioFrench that rose petals and candles have been placed in the street where Michael Brown died. I heard voices of humanity and compassion too.<\/p>\n<p>All I have are tears for Michael Brown, who if he\u2019d not been shot would have\u00a0attended\u00a0college classes for the first on Monday. And too many tears for the violence shredding us to pieces as we deny the humanity of our fellow human beings.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>protoslacker: It\u2019s 5:15 AM.
