The onslaught of passerby\u2019s \u00a0wanting to take photos with the statue exemplifies the disconnect in American society. \u00a0Simply frame out the dead body, and it doesn\u2019t exist. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Here are some observations by one of the artists involved in the event:<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t know who any of these folks are.<\/p>\n<p>They were tourists I presume.<\/p>\n<p>But I heard most of what everything they said. A few lines in particular stood out. There\u2019s one guy not featured in the photos. His friends were trying to get him to join the picture but he couldn\u2019t take his eyes off the body.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Something about this doesn\u2019t feel right. I\u2019m going to sit this one out, guys.&rdquo; &ldquo;Com\u2019on man\u2026 he\u2019s already dead.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>(Laughs.)<\/p>\n<p>There were a billion little quips I heard today. Some broke my heart. Some restored my faith in humanity. There was an older white couple who wanted to take a picture under the statue.<\/p>\n<p>The older gentleman: \u201cWhy do they have to always have to shove their politics down our throats.\u201d Older woman: \u201cThey\u2019re black kids, honey. They don\u2019t have anything better to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One woman even stepped over the body to get her picture. But as luck would have it the wind blew the caution tape and it got tangle around her foot. She had to stop and take the tape off. She still took her photo.<\/p>\n<p>There was a guy who yelled at us\u2026 \u201cWe need more dead like them. Yay for the white man!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;One young guy just cried and then gave me a hug and said \u2018thank you.
