It has no choice but to identify as an alternative aesthetics as its practitioners are intersectionally and redundantly marginalized by mainstream ones. I humbly submit that my essay Pixels, Politics, and Play can serve as an earlier example of subaltern aesthetics in videogames (c.f. Intelligent Agent volume 3 no 2).
