As Cohen points out, the shift to precarious forms of employment was pioneered in cultural industries, which have \u201cserv[ed] as a model of flexible, project-based work for other industries.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacobinmag.com\/2015\/05\/freelance-independent-contractor-union-precariat\/#_ftn10\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That model is now reproduced everywhere from universities to health care to hair salons.
